My name is Whitney Ford and I am a junior studying International Relations at Stanford University. I created this blog for Professor Clayborne  Carson’s class “Modern Traditions of Nonviolent Resistance” in January 2013.

Andrea Bowers is a multi-media visual artist. Her political ideology pervades and drives her work, which serves as a form and outlet in which she can express her resistance to various social, cultural, and political conflict. In general, this blog explores the history of art as a form of protest and role in the historical tradition and movement of nonviolent civil resistance. Through an exposition of Andrea’s works, interviews, and discussion of her motives, I hope that this website will leave the reader with a more comprehensive understanding of Andrea’s position as an artist leader of nonviolent political activism.
